My Top 5 Favourite Astrology and Referencing Books
So, I got to thinking about my astrological journey and what books I found very helpful in the art of studying astrology. With a plethora of amazing astrologers out there who have shared fantastic information that has not only been inspiring, but super educational, in understanding the long practiced art. I want to share some of my personal go-to top 5 favourite Astrology books when it comes to astrology and referencing.
It’s also important for me to note that these are in no particular order. Each book is its own powerhouse in Astrology, and each one would be a perfect first book.
These books have been incredibly valuable on my astrological journey in helping to not only inspire but expand my knowledge and understanding of astrology. Hopefully they will be as inspiring for you as they’ve been for me. I have focused solely on the introduction and learning style books, that would be helpful as a beginner with a few more intermediate thrown in. Over time I have fully read each and everyone of these books, and highly recommend adding them to your library. So, let’s get started!
1. Astrology Decoded By Sue Merlyn Farebrother
This was one of the first astrology books I ever read, and it completely opened my eyes to the complexity and depth of the subject. It’s an excellent resource for beginners and offers a comprehensive guide to understanding the fundamentals of astrology, from the zodiac signs to interpreting birth charts. I find myself going back to this book often, as it’s a great reference for both quick insights and in-depth study.
2. Aspects In Astrology By Sue Tomkins
This book is a must-have for anyone looking to dive deeper into the planetary movements and their influence on our lives. What I love about this one is how it breaks down the impact of each planet and their influence in a way that’s easy to understand yet incredibly detailed. It’s been an invaluable tool for learning the aspects and aspect patterns and helping to connect all the pieces of the relationship of the planets and how they can impact our lives.
3. Cosmos And Psyche By Richard Tarnas
When it comes to an in depth astrological study, this book is incredible! its a fantastic deep dive onto the connection between the planetary movements and the relation to the archetypal patterns of human existence. This book has a focus on the bigger picture and then examines and demonstrates using examples such as cultural rebellions, the French revolution and both world war 1 and 2.
By asking the question could we reunite religion, soul and science by interrogating intellect and ancient wisdom with modern reason to understand the past to create the future. its focus invites us to look within and look at the bigger picture. It offers a detailed explanation of the bigger cycles and how they relate to one another. The author does an amazing job of connecting the dots between astrology and real-world events making it both informative and practical. It’s perfect for anyone wanting to elevate their astrological knowledge.
4. The Twelve Houses By Howard Sasportas
This book is all about understanding the zodiac signs in depth and how they connect and play out in the houses. What sets it apart for me is how it delves into the what, how, where. meaning the planets show what is happening, the signs are how it is happening and the houses are where it is happening. so this is the book that I recommend to anyone who wants to explore the house much more in depth.
5. The Contemporary Astrologers Handbook By Sue Tompkins
I had to include this one, as it’s a fantastic resource for anyone interested in astrological charts. It provides a step-by-step guide on how to interpret complex birth charts, making it much easier to read your own or someone else’s chart. The references and practical examples in this book are spot-on, making it one of my favourites for astrological charting.
And now for a bonus book…
The Lore Of Pluto By Steve Judd
Finally I had to include this one, not just because the author is my former teacher, but because its a really great deep dive into all things Pluto. With Pluto’s recent transit back into Capricorn for the last time before finally moving into Aquarius until 2043, this book is a fantastic study into Pluto’s influence on us personally and collectively. Steve does an incredible job in this updated version demonstrating how Pluto can aid us in a deeper understanding of the hidden and underlying psychology that can subconsciously self sabotage, or, empower us.
And there you have it – my top 5 favourite astrology and referencing books, plus a sneaky bonus one. Each one has contributed to my understanding of the cosmos and has helped me to become more confident in interpreting astrological data. If you’re looking to expand your astrology library, I highly recommend checking out these titles!
